Half way through the year .... are you ready?
Tuesday and George Hanna with the Low Country Kerry Blue Terriers.
Hello Kerry Blue Terrier lovers everywhere!
We are almost halfway through this year: time seems to be flying again, doesn’t it? And as this very unique summer slowly winds its way through our lives, it is time to start thinking about the end of the year and the Y2021 Kerry Blue Terrier Foundation Rescue Calendar. While this may be hard to believe wrap our minds about the reality is that if we want to have the calendar available by late September so you will have plenty of time to order copies for your holiday gift giving, we need to start collecting photos now. This is your opportunity to make your special Kerry a real rock start! Start collecting your photos NOW!
Once again we are soliciting photos of your Kerries—all Kerries-- to be considered for the calendar.
This is calendar is meant to recognize and celebrate the Kerry Blue terriers in many activities and to support the KBTF’s unique rescue program by raising funds for that very special work. While the calendar will feature a number of rescue Kerries who have been part of our program, we will also show off other non-rescue Kerries. All Kerry photos are welcome for consideration whether a rescue or not. The photo may be of a current Kerry or one who has crossed the Rainbow Bridge
As we did last year, each month will feature not just one photo but multiple photos of Kerries doing similar activities.
For example one month could be Kerries sleeping on the furniture, another could feature senior Kerries (that is Kerries 10 years or older), another could be Kerries celebrating birthdays, and still another could be water Kerries. And please look through at your photos for seasonal Kerry photos such as winter “snow bunny” Kerries, Fall Kerries, Halloween Kerries and/or Christmas Kerries.
There are so many opportunities for ways to show off our Kerry Kids so please send lots of photos and I will work to try and do something creative with the coming year’s calendar.
Even if your Kerry has been featured on a calendar in other years, new photos of the same Kerry are always welcome and will be considered. After all, if they were photogenic enough to make one calendar, they may well earn a spot on theY2021 calendar! Kerry "cuteness" is always hard to resist. If you would like to share a photo, please send it my way for consideration on the Y2021 calendar before the deadline of Saturday August 1, 2020.
Here is the criteria for the photos to be considered for the calendar and where to send them: The photo must include at least one KBT. It could be of your beloved Kerry currently living with you or one who has crossed the rainbow bridge. It can be a Kerry or Kerries in any activity including sleeping, playing, eating, digging, swimming, anything. Send a photo of whatever you think shows that wonderful unique Kerry-ness of your special Kerry at their best. Black and white photos would also be welcome.
There should be NO people in photo please, just the Kerry alone or any other animal friends. (We’ve had Kerries with other Kerries, other dogs, and even with a cow!) It is perfectly fine and fun to have toys, swimming pools, squirrels, etc. but no people please.
Photo must be jpg format. No other format will be considered.
To insure that the photos will produce the best and clearest images on the calendar, the resolution of the jpg photos should be 300 dpi or greater. Depending on software that you use, you should be able to find the resolution listed somewhere on the specific photos you want to submit. If you are unsure of the resolution, send the photos to me anyway. I will check them out for you and in some case may be able to enhance them.
The person sending it in must "own" the photo. In other words, it cannot be a photo that you do not have permission to use and that we must go to a professional photographer or to anyone else to get permission. While professional photos are certainly welcome, you must have permission for the KBTF to use them. Please note that we will not use a photo with the photographer's name imbedded in the photo itself so there should be no name or marking on the submitted photo.
Please include brief information/story on your Kerry, including the month she or he was born if you know it. Tell me a little about what the Kerry was doing in the photo. If there are multiple dogs or critters in the photo, please identify each of them. (of course you probably won’t know the name of the squirrel in the photo that your Kerry is chasing up the tree but if you do know a name, please provide it) If your photo is of a rescue Kerry, please give me a little history: was it a puppy mill, an unhappy home rescue, what adjustment did the dog/you have to make when it arrived in your home? For all photos please tell me where the dog is now living, something about the photo itself plus some little thing that that he or she loves about his/her life. As you know, there is not a lot of space on the calendar for the "story" but the information that you send to me helps me show off your Kerry a little better on the calendar in just a few words. While we cannot use all of the information that you share, it provides important background material. Maybe this year we can figure out a way to tell a little more about the Kerries on the photos selected albeit in a different format.
Send your rescue Kerry photos directly to me please: do not send them to the KBT group as we want the calendar to hold some wonderful surprises for you when you purchase it. My private email is judi.y@att.net.
Send the photo and your story to me at the email address above no later than Saturday August 1, 2020. Be sure to include your current email and contact information in case I need more information or have a question about your photo and story. Information on purchasing the Y2021 calendar as well as a small "sneak preview" will be available on the KBTF website once it is finalized this fall. I will also give you feedback on your submitted photo, letting you know that it arrived safely and then later if we will be using it in the Y2021 calendar.
So get those cameras out and go for it as you share adventures with your Kerry, go through all those photos you have been taking over the years of your rescue Kerries, and send me a whole bunch of them to look over and enjoy. I love seeing all your photos! And remember that even if they don't make it on a specific month on the calendar, there will be that amazing cover that features so many of the Kerry photos submitted. The calendar is a good fund raiser for the Foundation but it is more than that: it is a way to showcase our Kerries and the joy they give us every day, sharing that joy with others. Please help make the Y2021 calendar another success. I am looking forward to my email filling up with great photos soon. Many thanks for your ongoing support for the work that the KBTF does every day on behalf of those Kerries we all so love. With your help, we have yet another fun and fabulous calendar to start of the New Year and to enjoy the entire year long! Enjoy the rest of your summer.
