Mac For Mayor!
The ears work for him!!
While Mac’s ears are a bit of a mystery, the consensus on the street is that they work for him! Mac came to us at nine when his beloved owner passed away. Long time volunteer Kim Applegate and her friend Beverly volunteered to take a long road trip to bring Mac to his foster home. Beverly was there to remind Kim that she couldn't bring Mac home (two other males), but by the end of the trip they both struggled to let this perfect little gentleman go! He is very outgoing: should someone come close to returning his eye contact, he immediately turns on the charm and initiates a conversation. He pretends to hear every word (he is mostly deaf) and wags his tail throughout. He also loves to play with other dogs. Walking down an urban trail would take all day if he had his druthers. Yet, on a trail or walk without his public, he maintains a fast pace. No stopping to sniff the roses for this boy.
His first six weeks were a challenge, as he needed two separate surgeries. When we picked him up after he spent the weekend at the vet after his second surgery, the vet couldn’t stop praising him. He insisted on a victory tour, greeting all the staff before he agreed to leave.
Mac apparently decided that he may stay with his foster family.
